Yleisimmät virheet suomalaisille

Despite of: Despite ei tarvitse of-prepositiota. Sekoittuu sanaan in spite of, jossa of kuuluu.
Väärin: Despite of the rain, we went out.
Oikein: Despite the rain, we went out. tai In spite of the rain, we went out.

However välimerkit väärin: However on adverbi, ei konjunktio. Se aloittaa uuden virkkeen tai erotetaan pilkuilla.
Väärin: The plan is ambitious, however it lacks funding.
Oikein: The plan is ambitious. However, it lacks funding.

Due to vs because of: Due to johtaa substantiiviin, because johtaa kokonaiseen lauseeseen.
Väärin: Due to it was raining, we stayed home.
Oikein: Because it was raining, we stayed home. tai Due to the rain, we stayed home.

"In conclusion" liian aikaisin: Käytä tätä vain esseen viimeisessä kappaleessa, ei jokaisen aliotsikon lopussa.
